It feels like we’ve only just had the new year yet before we know it the shops are full of pink gifts and Valentine’s day is upon us! I’m not gonna lie I am a sucker for Valentine’s Day and anything romantic but for me it’s not about the presents or flowers. I use the day to reflect on my relationships and remember how lucky I am to have such a loving boyfriend, family and group of friends. Here’s what Alex and I got up to on our 5th Valentines as a couple.
First a little disclaimer – Alex totally forgot it was Valentine’s Day today! We woke up and, after an emotional fiasco trying to get Demi Lovato tickets in pres ale (I was successful), I gave Alex his card. He had already found his present in the cupboard a few weeks ago. His face was a picture we he realised what day it was and that he had absolutely nothing to give me in return for a very cute pug card. I’m not gonna pretend I wasn’t a little bit disappointed not to be woken up to his usual lovely bouquet of roses but it’s not all about the presents and in fairness with the week we have had I can 100% see why he forgot.
After we laughed it off he suggested we go for a nice lunch out and spend the day together which is the best present I could ask for. We are lucky to both have Wednesdays as a lecture free day. However, as we are both so busy 24/7 we don’t get to spend much time together just the two of us so I today was lush. We went to Zizzi’s for lunch which we love, especially when students get a 30% discount – result! Alex ordered the spaghetti meatballs and I ordered the Italian hot pizza which is VERY spicy – just how I like it.
As the Marvel fanatics we are, we then decided to go and watch Black Panther at the cinema which was amazing. We are now cwtched up in bed, watching some Netflix to finish off a lovely day spending time together. I hope you’ve all had a lovely Valentine’s/Palentine’s/Galentine’s day with your loved ones.
Here’s to the next one,
