Hello and welcome to Blogmas day 4! I thought I would try something a little bit different today and do a Christmas themed Q&A so you can learn a little bit more about me and my obsession with the festive season. I asked for questions on Instagram and got quite a few responses and so will be answering those along with a few others. Here goes…
Q. What is your favourite Christmas movie?
A. This is a tough one as there are so many to choose from. I used to watch all the classics with my grandparents when I was younger but I also adore some of the releases from the past few years. I can’t pick a favourite but my top choices would have to be The Holiday, Nativity!, Miracle of 34th Street, The Grinch, Jingle all the Way and Elf.
Q. What is your favourite thing to do on Christmas day?
A. Aside from spending time with my family, I would have to say watching others open the gifts I have got them. I physically cannot buy a present without putting in tonnes of thought – you may have noticed by now that I am a bit of a perfectionist. I love watching people react to their presents and be happy on my favourite day of the year.
Q. Do you have any Christmas traditions?
A. As a matter of fact I do. One tradition that I keep with my family is a cinema trip on Christmas Eve – we all go together to see whatever happens to be on. When I was little I think it was a way to distract and tire us out so we would sleep in the night but now it’s just a nice family thing to do. I think Mary Poppins might be the title of choice this year! My brother and I still always open our stocking in my mum’s bed with her too if that counts as a tradition? I do have quite a few other traditions but I am dedicating a whole Blogmas piece on them that is coming soon so won’t ruin it for you.
Q. What is the best Christmas present you have ever received?
A. In a materialistic sense I have been lucky enough to receive some amazing gifts over the years. From Alex I’ve gotten Wicked Tickets and on our first Christmas together he spoilt me with an IPad! From family my favourite gifts would probably be my keyboard (A Yamaha full sized rehearsal keyboard), my MacBook, TV and my camera. However, Christmas for me really ins’t about the gifts, as lovely as they are. The best gift I have been given in my Dad making it through his stroke as for a while I didn’t think he would be around for anymore Christmases.
Q. What is your favourite Christmas beverage?
A. In general my go to winter drink is always a hot chocolate! However, I am assuming this question is asking what’s my favourite speciality drink from Costa etc and in that case I would have to say gingerbread hot chocolate or gingerbread latte! I’m also dying to try the new caramelised orange hot chocolate they have out at the moment.
Q. Do you have a favourite Christmas scent?
A. The excitement at getting asked this question is unreal! My all time favourite Christmas scent is snow fairy from LUSH. I honestly cannot begin to describe how obsessed I am with it – it just oozes Christmas to me. It’s only available from November until January too so I literally go into the store and smell/browse the products at any given chance. I also adore the Christmas Eve and Christmas Magic Yankee Candles which I have burning in our house every night at the moment.
Q. Is it hard celebrating Christmas with divorced parents?
A. Absolutely not! I am going to do a full Blogmas post on ‘what I do on Christmas day’ so you’ll get a better insight into this but I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way. I see myself as lucky as I get to have two Christmas days! In general I have never wished that my parents had stayed together. Maybe it’s because I don’t remember them ever being an item but I think it’s mainly because I have had a brilliant life and I love my family just the way it is.
Q. Do you have a dream Christmas holiday destination?
A. The answer to any holiday question usually pulls the answer Florida from me instantly. However, I was actually lucky enough to visit Disney World during Christmas time a while ago. Of course it was magical and lovely but I much prefer Halloween over there. I think I just found hot weather at Christmas a little too bizarre and was very young at the time but I would of course jump at the chance to go again now that I am older.
My absolute dream holiday would be to visit New York at Christmas. This is something I have wanted to do for as long as I can remember. I want to ice skate in central park, see the decorations, visit Macy’s santa land the whole lot! I don’t know if it will ever happen but I can keep dreaming!
There we have it! I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this festive Q & A and getting to know me a little better. I really enjoyed answering your questions so maybe I’ll do something like this again in the future. Let me know what kind of questions you would like answered in the comments!
