Hello lovelies and welcome to Blogmas day 5! This week I had the most amazing task to complete as part of my student wellbeing champion job – I got to decorate the University of Worcester Christmas tree!
The theme of the tree is ‘Shine a Light’ which I came up within my team. I have got a full ‘christmas campaign’ blogmas post scheduled about it but the general idea relates to moving away from darkness and isolation towards hope and positivity at Christmas!
The decorations are all hand made stars that have been made my team, other saff and students at the University. They are super simple – all you need is a cardboard star template and some wool to wrap around them! We went for a colour scheme of purples, silver and gold which I absolutely love!
It was a bit of a mad start to the day when the tree lights we were expecting we no where to be found and our back ups had not been PAT tested but we got there in the end. It was myself and our new team member Rhi who undertook the decorating challenge and I think we did a pretty good job. However, we did have to enlist some help for the top branches and placement of the star – #shortpeopleproblems!
I just love what the message of the tree represents and that all the decorations are hand made. The stars that we have left over and the ones we made in different colours are going to be sold at a craft fair next week so they won’t go to waste and will ‘shine a light’ in different homes this Christmas.
I absolutely adore my job and can’t wait to create some more memorable campaigns this year!
Happy Blogmas,
Meg xo
