Hello again! I am writing this post after finally recovering from a pretty messy and fun weekend that involved my two favourite things – Disney and my best pals!
Last weekend marked one of my best gals Zoe’s 21st birthday so naturally we had to return to Worcester to celebrate with her. I remember probably a week into Zoe and I’s friendship when she realised I would have finished uni by the time she turned 21 and she practically begged my to promise to come back to celebrate with her when the time came. I always keep my promises so off to Worcester we went. It honestly came at just the right time as was definitely ready for a night out with my fave people.
Shannon and Zoe had made a pact to plan each other’s 21st birthdays and so, with help from all of our friends, the Disney Pub Crawl idea was born and we all got to work planning the surprise for Zoe. Shan did a fab job and Zoe had absolutely no idea what was going on which made surprising her all the more fun. I did almost put my foot in it by mentioning costumes in front of her but thankfully she was none the wiser – trust me to almost let the side down!
Shan got Zoe a Minnie Mouse outfit as part of her birthday presents so she was sorted and it was nice to see so many people make an effort on the costume side to fit the theme. If you’ve been following this blog for a while you will know from the ‘social lookbook’ posts how much I love dressing up and creating costumes, so it’ll come as no surprise when I say I went all out to recreate a look by my favourite Princess, Belle.
I went for Belle as, not only is she my fave princess from my fave film, but also because she is the Disney character I most resemble (brown hair, green eyes etc). I think I’ll write a separate look for how I created the costume but I am so pleased with how it turned out. It’ll probably also come as no surprise that Alex left his costume until the last minute (originally setting his sights on Duke CaBoom from Toy Story 4) so a last minute Primark run ended up with him being the Gaston to my Belle which if I’m honest probably worked out for the best!
When we turned up to surprise Zoe, the next thing was a full blown photo shoot in the garden! I am so jealous of people who have summer birthdays as you can have celebrations outdoors with fab pics as opposed to my bday which is in the middle of January. Alex and I even managed to get some nice pics for a change and it’s so nice to have these snaps to add to the ever growing memory bank.
After photos and drinks it was time to head out to the pubs. In total we visited;
- The Postal Order (Wetherspoons)
- Hanbao (which now has a refurbished roof terrace and we had the best cocktails ever!)
- The Crown
- Sin Nightclub
When we arrived at Sin we managed to get a VIP booth where we spent the last part of the night dancing, drinking and honestly having such a laugh. We had to negotiate with the bouncers to let Jade in as she was wearing trainers, but in the end we all made it to the final pub and had a blast.
I’m not gonna lie, there are parts of the nights that aren’t that clear in my memory but I do know that it was one of the best nights out I have ever had. After a year of drama and distress it was so refreshing to have a fun night with the best group of friends a gal could ask for (minus Ebs). If I didn’t love the girl so much, I would be low key jealous as Zoe literally got the birthday party of my dreams but she deserved everything.
Sadly, after a (very) hungover trip to spoons, it was time to return to Abergavenny for adult life to commence. I don’t think I have quite come to terms that my student life in Worcester is over but I know that with these guys by my side, the best is yet to come.
